Mortimers Photoshoot

A couple of weeks ago we were shooting some portraits in the studio for a client of ours, Mortimers. It was a great shoot and below is one of the edited photos.

For the shot above we’ve gone for a bit of an edgy cross processed look on this shot to create something a little different.

Photographing Royalty: The Duke of Kent

A couple of weeks ago we were asked to cover a Blackburn Youth Zone event which was attended by the Duke of Kent. We got a variety of photos as the Youth Zone project was explained to the Duke. Below is one of the shots from the day.

This was a 3 light set up making use of a 20 degree grid and plenty of diffusion material. The three lights were triggered with a radio remote and we were shooting tethered into Aperture 3. Final editing was completed in Photoshop CS5.

Workhouse Photowalk

A couple of weeks ago Steven and I went on the first Workhouse Photowalk of 2010. We decided to do the first half of the Tolkein Trail one Friday morning before work.
Photowalks are a great and social way of getting out and about with your camera and as the examples below show, you don’t have to travel miles to get some good shots.

Charity Fashion Show.

On Thursday Workhouse Studios in house photographer Andrew Woodhouse, attended a local charity fashion show with some friends, in aid of the charity Help the Hereos. The fashion show was at Fives bar in Preston and had been organised by Adrian Crook of Adrian Crook Photography. It was a great event that was well attended, and the models were all excellent.

Andrew said “It was great shooting the event and the low lighting conditions proved an ideal opportunity to test the D3′s excellent high ISO capabilities”.

Workhouse staff and 17 brews!

Workhouse Marketing Staff. © Workhouse Studios 2010. All rights reserved.

Had to take a staff shot yesterday to say thanks to Instanta for our fabulous water boiler! It has been an absolute godsend having the water boiler, especially during the recent spell of cold weather. We now no longer need to wait an age for the kettle to boil, we can simply walk into the kitchen, pour out boiling water and make a brew in seconds – not minutes!

The brief was to get a shot that showed all of the staff, with the exception of Liz, Grez (who’s currently in Germany, learning to speak the language before his wedding) and Rachel (who’s off on holiday) holding a nice warming brew in front of Workhouse.

Below is a quick doodle that shows the lighting set up for the shoot:
